In today's Customer Spotlight, we're featuring Don Renyer. He's a product management professional and adventure enthusiast who loves spending his free time getting lost in the woods, wandering the desert and dreaming about his family's next adventure.
Don's Jeep Gladiator is called Everest. The name is inspired by Mount Everest which is considered by many to be the ultimate adventure. He hopes that through sharing his adventures, he will inspire others to get out there and have their own adventures.
Don bought this Jeep for Father’s Day in 2020. It helped that his wife also loved the Gobi color as much as Don! We're also a huge fan of the color.
Here's the list of mods on Don's 2020 Gobi Gladiator Sport.
Don told us, “I just received CB radio and MicroMobile GMRS from Midland USA that I’ll be installing before our summer trip to Montana.
In addition to the communication upgrade, I have the new Quadratec aluminum roof rack to install and I'm also planning on a bed rack to replace the chase rack for additional functionality. Those are the near term mods but longer term mods include a major lighting upgrade and new gears."
Jeep is the ultimate adventure vehicle, and it perfectly suits our outdoor-loving lifestyle. It’s capable of taking us anywhere, both on and off-road and is highly customizable for whatever adventure we are currently chasing.
The people are simply the best. I’ve made many new friends online through the Jeep community and have met several of them in person. Whether you are looking for mechanical advice, help with an installation, inspiration for a build, trail tips, or simply engaging with like-minded people, the Jeep community has it all.
Don and his wife bought their first Jeep, a 2016 JKU, in 2015 and still have it today.
Everest is currently running the RubiGrid dash mount with 4 AMPS mounts to hold the standard phone mount, action camera mount, magnetic mount for his camper’s TPMS monitor, and tablet mount for his iPad for both work and flying his drone. Don also has a collection of arms and elbows that he has been experimenting with to dial in the perfect configuration.
Choosing Bulletpoint was a combination of factors:
Don and his family are currently based out of Orlando, Florida after living in Destin, Florida for several years. They ended up there for work but find themselves escaping to the mountains or out west every chance they get.
When we are not on an epic cross-country trip, we try to get out camping and/or wheeling every other weekend. Whether it’s a trail ride for an afternoon or spending the weekend at a state park, we love to get outdoors.
Don told us about a trip from Orlando to Moab for 10 weeks at the beginning of 2021. They towed their Geo Pro camper behind the Gladiator for over 9,000 miles while visiting several state and national parks. It was the trip of a lifetime and solidified their desire to look into traveling full time.
Don explained that this year is still up in the air due to COVID-19 and the impacts it has on travel and events. He just got back from Jeep Beach in Daytona, and the next planned event is the Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion in August and Overland Expo East in October. But before they get to those, they are headed to Montana for an 8 week cross-country trip with the family.
We have two dogs that love to go wheeling and camping with us. Stella is our 5 year old yellow lab, and Kahlua is our 11 year old Chihuahua/Terrier mix. We’ve got a custom setup for their gear in the backseat so they’re always packed and ready to go at a moment’s notice.
Don’s father and grandfather are retired military, so of course Don was raised with a deep respect for our nation’s heroes.
